Kenworth is bringing their TruckTech+ Remote Diagnostic system on their new line of medium-duty trucks. Using this system, drivers and fleet managers can cut down on service delays and catch problems early. This reduces operating costs and downtime.

TruckTech+ Remote Diagnostics provides real-time information on engine health to fleet managers and Kenworth dealers and lets fleets track their trucks’ locations, among other capabilities. It also notifies the driver of the best course of action using the driver performance center built into the gauge cluster. Warnings include “no action required,” “address the alert at the next service,” “go to a dealer for repairs” and “pull over to prevent engine damage.” TruckTech+ finds the three closest repair facilities and sends recommendations to the Paccar Solutions web portal if the truck needs service. From here, the fleet manager can see the truck’s diagnostic error, location, status, and recommended course of action. This information can also be sent to the dealer in advance to prepare to work on the truck.

Since this information centers around the Paccar Solutions Portal, it can be accessed from any internet-connected device. This allows managers to make decisions from their computers, while truck drivers can access information from their smartphones. Service centers get vehicle information to build a quote and send it to the fleet manager for approval. TruckTech+ also provides real-time analytics for all compatible vehicles in the owner’s fleet, breaking down repairs by make, model, engine, vehicle status, location, and more. This helps fleet managers identify problems ahead of time-based on historical data.

TruckTech+ Remote Diagnostics was introduced in 2018 on Kenworth’s Class 8 trucks. This year, the company is adding this system to their T1280, T280, T380, and T480 trucks equipped with Paccar PX-7 and PX-9 engines, and the T280, T380, and T480 equipped with a Cummins Westport L9N engine. Operators and fleets have the option of buying a 24-month subscription to this service when they order compatible trucks.
