On July 9, 2026, EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin announced a proposal that recommends the elimination of DEF system related deratements and a reduction of EPA27 warranty requirements. This announcement opened a public comment period that lasts until August 29. Virtual public hearings are scheduled for July 29 and 30. Registration to testify at those hearings closes on July 22.
